Zones of Regulation
In class we have introduced Zones of Regulation to help children understand and manage their emotions. Mrs Managh and Mrs Leyburn recently completed training in this to allow us to introduce it as part of our commitment to support the emotional well-being of our pupils.
The Zones are-
Blue- sad, tired or low energy
Green- calm, happy and ready to learn
Yellow- worried, frustrated or excited
Red- angry or overwhelmed.
The framework teachers pupils to recognise their feelings and choose strategies to get back to the Green Zone for learning. We also discussed how there are no ‘good’ or ‘bad’ feelings, just some that make us feel comfortable and others uncomfortable.
We will be continuing with the programme over the coming weeks and hope that it will become an important and useful part of our classroom to support everyone.
